How to Prepare a Lamp for Drop-Off

Five minutes of prep that speeds up your repair and keeps costs down.

Bring the whole lamp

Shade, harp, finial and bulb included. Fitting problems are far easier to solve with every part on the bench.

Tell us the story

When it last worked, what it does now, and whether anything was done to it before. Previous DIY repairs are common and knowing about them saves diagnostic time.

Transport

Remove the bulb, wrap the base in a blanket and lay the lamp flat in the footwell. Most damage we see in transit happens to lamps standing upright in a trunk.

When to hand it to a professional

Anything involving heat damage, exposed conductors, tripped breakers or ladder work over a stairwell belongs on a workbench or with a technician on site. Philliparo Co. handles all of it from our Allen workshop — see our services or call (972) 798-3761.
