Why they're worth it
Mid-century fixtures were built with solid brass, walnut and real glass. Comparable quality today costs several times what restoration does.
Common faults
Perished rubber wire, failed rotary dimmers, brittle plastic diffusers and corroded socket shells. All are repairable; original diffusers occasionally need custom fabrication.
Keeping it original
We use cloth-covered cord in period colours and retain original switch plates and hardware wherever they pass a safety test, so the fixture reads correct rather than refurbished.
When to hand it to a professional
